With the influx of films surrounding vampires, zombies and all things in between, most are beginning to feel quite similar in style and tone, but one arriving this summer should break away from the pack. In the context of a romantic-comedy, Life After Beth explores the relationship between a boyfriend (Dane DeHaan) and girlfriend (Aubrey Plaza) when the latter turns into a zombie.

Unfortunately we weren’t fans of it at Sundance, saying in our review, “While her condition is slowly revealed, a few amusing jokes on the zombie myth are crafted, but unfortunately it’s an undercooked, blandly directed film that doesn’t use its premise to its full potential.” One can now judge for themselves, as the first trailer has landed for the Jeff Baena-directed August release. Check it out below via MTV, along with two posters, for the film also starring John C. Reilly, Anna Kendrick, Molly Shannon, Alia Shawkat, Cheryl Hines and Paul Reiser.
