As Bryan Singer kicks off production on X-Men: Days of Future Past, this summer will see another film in the mutant Marvel universe as Hugh Jackman returns for the solo entry The Wolverine. Following two fairly lackluster trailers that painted this as yet another generic entry, 20th Century Fox are hoping to amp up anticipation with another look.

While we’re still not sold on this preview, it certainly increases the fun factor in James Mangold‘s new take, with more appealing action and central story that gives us a bit more to care about. Check out the trailer below for the film also starring Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Brian Tee.

Synopsis:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.

The Wolverine lands on July 26th.
