As Iron Man 3 slides into international theaters tomorrow, Marvel already has another one of their superhero tentpoles in the can and they’ll be showing off the first look in theaters. Ahead of that, however, they’ve released our debut trailer for Thor: The Dark World online, coming from director Alan Taylor and featuring the return of our cast. Despite the length, this one certainly works more like a teaser, but considering the first film was a welcome surprise, this will hopefully follow suit.

Marvel is also keeping busy on the rest of their properties, recently adding Ophelia Lovibond to Guardians of the Galaxy. As that James Gunn-directed project heads into production, one can see the new trailer, photos and poster below for the film starring Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellen Skarsgaard, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Zachary Levi, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Christopher Eccleston and Idris Elba.

Synopsis:

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Thor: The Dark World arrives on November 8th.
