With a distinctive love-or-hate style, Diablo Cody began her Hollywood career on a high note, grabbing an Oscar for her work on Jason Reitman‘s Juno. Flash forward six years later and she’s following the path of many screenwriters before her, making her directorial debut. Following our first images from Paradise, we got the surprising news that the film would be appearing on DirectTV in just a few days (on August 8th), before it’s October theatrical release and now our official trailer has arrived.

Led by Julianne Hough, she  plays a young conservative woman who suffers a crisis of faith after surviving a plane crash and goes to Las Vegas to briefly live a life of sin, assisted by Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer. This first look at footage hints at fairly crowd-pleasing affair, complete with the director’s quirks. Cody also told LA Times that the VOD platform is fitting, hopefully following the success of Bachelorette and that “there’s a much bigger stigma attached to opening on too many screens and tanking.” Also starring Nick Offerman and Holly Hunter, check out the trailer and poster below.

After a nearly fatal accident, 21-year-old Lamb Mannerheim (Hough) is beginning to realize that the world is much bigger than her small, God-fearing Montana town. Armed with a big, fat insurance payout and a checklist of untried sins, there’s only one place for her first taste of temptation…Las Vegas! And, with the help of a few new friends (Brand and Spencer), Lamb embarks on an oddball odyssey of lost souls, broken faith and cheap cocktails…a true journey of the heart.
