Once again responsible for distributing some of the year’s best films — A Ghost Story, Lady Bird, Good Time, The Florida Project — A24 is showing no signs of slowing down in 2018. They recently dated two mysterious horror films for March 16 and April 27 and now they’ve debuted the trailer for Jean-Stephane Sauvaire’s A Prayer Before Dawn, which premiered in the midnight section of Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Based on a true story, it follows a British boxer who gets thrown into prison in Thailand and works his way up in the system by participating in tournaments. A24 has now debuted the thrilling first trailer, which shows off the film’s authenticity, having been shot on location and with real-life inmates. Check out the trailer and poster below ahead of a release next year.

A Prayer Before Dawn is the remarkable true story of Billy Moore, a young English boxer incarcerated in two of Thailand’s most notorious prisons. He is quickly thrown into a terrifying world of drugs and gang violence, but when the prison authorities allow him to take part in the Muay Thai boxing tournaments, he realizes this might be his chance to get out. Billy embarks on a relentless, action-packed journey from one savage fight to the next, stopping at nothing to do whatever he must to preserve his life and regain his freedom. Shot in a an actual Thai prison with a cast of primarily real inmates, A Prayer Before Dawn is a visceral, thrilling journey through an unforgettable hell on earth.
