The first trailer for director Michel Gondry’s new flight of fancy Mood Indigo had everything – dreamlike visuals, romance, whimsical Rube Goldberg machines. The one thing it didn’t have, however, was subtitles. It took a little over a month, but finally non-French speaking movie goers can join in on the fun.

Based on a novel by Boris Vian, and adapted by Luc Bossi, the fantasy drama stars Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou as a couple who must face a strange hardship soon after they’re wed. The second trailer for the film is the same as the previous one, and the translations only add a few details to a story that pretty much tells itself – you don’t need to parlez francais to understand what unfolds in the stimulating footage. Still, a second viewing wouldn’t hurt. See trailer and synopsis below:

Synopsis:

“In a world where you can travel around on a pink cloud or literally be swept off an ice-skating rink into a hole, Colin (Romain Duris), a wealthy young man and inventor of the cocktail-mixing piano, wants to fall in love.  With the help of his cook Nicolas (Omar Sy) and best friend Chick (Gad Elmaleh), he meets Chloe (Audrey Tautou), the incarnation of a Duke Ellington tune.  But soon after their wedding, Chloe falls ill.  She has a water lily growing in her chest.  Ruined by medical expenses, Colin resorts to increasingly desperate methods to save his beloved’s life…”

Mood Indigo has yet to see a U.S. release date.
