dumbo-1

As Disney goes into its animation vault to pluck their beloved features and turn them into live-action tentpoles, despite making enough money to turn Mickey’s eyes green, the results have been mixed at best. While Cinderella started things off on a noble, classical foot, The Jungle Book had technical proficiency but no soul, then there was the ghastly, lifeless Beauty and the Beast. In 2019, we’re getting three more of these reimaginings in the span of just five months and the trailer for the first has landed.

Dumbo, a remake of the 1941 film, comes from Tim Burton, who has been looking for a major hit after a number of disappointments this decade. Starring Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and Alan Arkin, these teaser is quite effective in its imagery, showing off a family-friendly alternative to Okja. Ahead of a release next March followed by Aladdin in May and The Lion King in July, see the teaser and poster below.

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
