Danny Trejo Beats People Up In ‘Bad Ass’ Trailer

Written by on December 26, 2011

You’ll have to forgive me for not being familiar with “Epic Beard Man,” a video that features an elderly man (named Thomas Bruso) beating up a guy — memes just kind of fly over my head. But it’s been brought to my attention some 22 months later, only because of the trailer for a film very loosely based on the man and his actions, Bad Ass.

A brief look at the film — starring Danny Trejo, Ron Perlman, and Charles S. Dutton — has come online, and, well… boy, this looks poor. I’ll always be up for an over-the-top, cartoonish action movie that only focuses on such, but Bad Ass probably falls into the Machete trap of trying too hard on something that doesn’t even need to shoot for the moon. We’ll live without this in our lives.

Take a look below:

Synopsis:

Decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega returns home only to get shunned by society leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. It’s not until forty years later when an incident on a commuter bus (where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads) makes him a local hero where he’s suddenly celebrated once again. But his good fortune suddenly turns for the worse when his best friend Klondike is murdered and the police aren’t doing anything about it.

Does Bad Ass look like the kind of exploitation-level fare you pine for?
