After stopping by the fall festival circuit with The Humbling and Manglehorn, Al Pacino is continuing his comeback of sorts with another drama. Danny Collins marks the directorial debut of Dan Fogelman (the writer behind Crazy, Stupid, Love. and Tangled), as we follow an aging rocker who tries to lead a better life after receiving a lost letter that had been sent to him by his idol John Lennon more than 40 years ago.

The first trailer has now arrived ahead of a spring release, which reveals the crowdpleasing tone reminiscent in other works from Fogelman. With John Lennon’s original songs part of the soundtrack, hopefully this one makes for a successful feel-good drama. Also starring Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, Christopher Plummer, and Annette Bening, check out the trailer and poster below.

Inspired by a true story, Al Pacino stars as aging 1970s rocker Danny Collins, who can’t give up his hard-living ways. But when his manager (Christopher Plummer) uncovers a 40 year-old undelivered letter written to him by John Lennon, he decides to change course and embarks on a heartfelt journey to rediscover his family, find true love and begin a second act.

Danny Collins opens on March 20th, 2015.
