In just about five weeks Gareth Edwards‘ prequel Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, following a group of rebels with a secret plan to destroy the Death Star, will finally hit theaters. With a cast led by Felicity JonesBen Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelson, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Jonathan Aris, and James Earl Jones, it’s certainly the most varied, promising cast and crew yet in this franchise.

We now have a new international trailer which packs a ton of new footage, notably the return of a familiar evil face, more explosions, and some backstory. “Even though we’re not telling the story of Luke Skywalker, it was important to me that we capture the same themes and emotion,” the director told USA Today. “But the film doesn’t unfold how you think. It’s not the same path as Star Wars.”

Check out the new trailer and poster below.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
