Zack Snyder to Shoot ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel and ‘Justice League’ Back-to-Back

Written by on April 28, 2014

Last night, the internet was abuzz with news that director Zack Snyder would be helming DC’s answer to The Avengers, Justice League, a notion I thought was more-or-less already a given. Since then, however, a few more details have came about, regarding when exactly it may touch down in theaters. After Wall Street Journal first broke the story, THR reveals that the films are set to shoot back-to-back.

With his Man of Steel sequel kicking off production next month for a May 6th, 2016 release, the trade indicates that we could see Justice League open just a year later (Latino Review has put forth the rumor of a May 7th, 2017 release). With Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot set to appear as the main trio of heroes in both movies, Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman says, “It will be a further expansion of this universe. Superman vs Batman will lead into Justice League.”

As for who’ll join them, the recently cast Ray Fisher as Cyborg will reportedly have a brief part in Batman vs. Superman and then be a fully-fledged character in Justice League. We imagine Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern will also take part, but nothing else has been confirmed yet. Considering the utter disappointment that was Man of Steel, Snyder will have to create something truly special in his next film for us to get on board with Justice League, so let’s hope he can do just that.

What do you think of WB and DC’s superhero plans?
