WB Sets Release Dates For Ben Affleck’s ‘Live By Night’ and Clint Eastwood’s ‘Jersey Boys’

After winning the top Oscar for Warner Bros., the studio is holding on tight to Argo director Ben Affleck. They not only made him the next Batman, but will finance and produce his next feature, an adaptation of Dennis Lehane‘s Live By Night. When the talent came aboard Zack Snyder‘s superhero sequel, our fears came true that it would delay his next directorial effort, and now we know exactly when we’ll be able to see it.

According to the studio, we’ll have to wait over two years, as they’ve set the prohibition-era drama for a December 25th, 2015 release. Following Joe Coughlin, a son of a Boston police captain, the film tracks him up through the ranks of organized crime. There’s no word on casting yet, but if his last two features are any indication, we could see Affleck in a role when production likely kicks off next fall, following his Batman vs. Superman commitment.

When it comes to a project we’ll see much sooner, Clint Eastwood has been hard at work on an adaptation of the hit musical Jersey Boys — and, now, WB have set it for the prime summer slot of June 20th, 2014. Marking his first entry into the season since 2002’s Blood Work, the film tracks the 1960s rock ‘n roll group The Four Seasons, with John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli, Erich Bergen as Bob Gaudio, Vincent Piazza as Tommy DeVito, and Michael Lomenda as Nick Massi.

Which of the above films are you most looking forward to? What do you think of the release slots?
