Although Ray Stevenson took over for the Frank Castle character for the gleefully insane Punisher: War Zone, Thomas Jane has put back on the anti-hero’s boots for the first time since 2004 in a new short. Titled Dirty Laundry and featuring a heavy dose of The Dark Knight score, the film was unveiled at a somewhat secret screening at Comic-Con this past weekend.

Featuring collaborators Adi Shankar, Chad St. John, Phil Joanou and even Ron Perlman in a supporting role, there’s no indication that this test means Hollywood is interested in making another feature, but perhaps with enough fan reaction, we could see some movement. Check out the highly NSFW short film below, preceded by a quote from Jane on why he wanted to return to the character.

“I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
