Only so often do we hear from the producers of a film, and one of the more fruitful aspects of awards-season press rounds is the opportunity these people — who, lest we forget, take home the Best Picture Oscar — have to lay out their process. It’s done better nowhere than in the Hollywood Reporter‘s roundtable, which yields plenty of new information and perspectives in a well-paced, concentrated setting, and in a manner more honest about the craft than many interviews of this kind — even if it ultimately circles back to praise.

Coming together this year are three big-ticket names (Matt Damon for Manchester By The Sea, Darren Aronofsky for Jackie, and Frank Marshall for Sully), along with Silence‘s Emma Tillinger Koskoff, La La Land‘s Marc Platt, and FencesTodd Black. See the full discussion below:
