Silence is almost upon us. Some of us have been lucky enough to see it, others (e.g. yours truly) will be seeing it soon, and those on the outside will (hopefully) have the film before their eyes in a relatively short time. Whatever your situation, there is a good opportunity to get closer, misleading headline and all. No, Martin Scorsese does not spend 21 whole minutes talking about the Pope and Donald Trump – that just happens to get more clicks. (Also: ignore our headline.)

His new, so-very-long-in-development picture takes center stage; even the eventual comments about America’s President-elect are framed in reference to a very magnanimous character from his oeuvre. (Nevertheless, it’s somehow a bit of a relief to know he’s also freaked the hell out by what’s going on.) Scorsese, understandably, is in a reflective mood here: the passion project may be over, but it’s not exactly complete — nor may it ever be.

Watch it below, along with a new 4K restoration trailer for Goodfellas, which arrives in U.K. theaters on January 27.
