Watch: Leslie Mann Wants to Kill Paul Rudd In First ‘This Is 40’ Clip, Plus New Featurette With Jason Segel

Written by on November 26, 2012

A few lucky critics have already seen This Is 40 — even tending to like it, too — but those of us who aren’t so lucky (i.e., about anyone who’s reading) need to wait another month. As a means of holding over the masses, a pair of videos have been released as a means of promotion: a fairly nondescript clip and a humorous look behind-the-scenes. One is, again, what you’d expect (depending on what expectations actually were), while the other breaks from stale, long-established patterns of featurettes. Better yet, both are worth a laugh. [Moviefone and The Huffington Post]

The full-on clip is a good reminder of what dynamic Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann established in Knocked Up; it’s carried over here, while all being filtered through dialogue that shows Judd Apatow‘s knowledge of each actor’s strengths. Nice, and a better way of re-situating oneself than any of the trailers. Better yet is the featurette, which gives a (for lack of some better term) healthy look at Jason Segel reprising his own character, who’s since gone from aspiring pornographer to self-employed fitness coach. I can only hope this somewhat lengthy piece isn’t the whole deal when it comes to his work.

These can be seen below:

This Is 40 will open on December 21st.

Are you pro or con on these next couple of looks at Apatow’s latest film?
