With 2012 all said and done, the film that garnered the most year-end recognition amongst fellow TFS’ers was Paul Thomas Anderson‘s latest work, The Master. As the Joaquin Phoenix-led drama gears up for a February 26th Blu-ray release, we got some more details on what to expect and one special feature available to watch now.

According to Blu-ray.com, the disc will come with 20 minutes of deleted scenes, collectively titled “Back Beyond” and featuring new music from composer Jonny Greenwood (perhaps from here), as well as a mysterious 8-minute short film titled “Unguided Message.” There’s also a behind-the-scenes featurette, and the trailers and teasers previously released, but one piece that caught our eye was the inclusion of John Huston‘s complete, one-hour 1946 documentary Let There Be Light.

Following a group of 75 World War II soldiers, the film was commissioned by the US Army and delved into the post-war effects on their psyche. Preserved by the United States National Film Registry back in 2010, the film was clearly prime inspiration for Paul Thomas Anderson as he crafted the character of Freddie Quell, and it’s already available online to view. Check out the full documentary below, as well as the cover art for the Blu-ray, which is pulled directly from a poster we exclusively debuted last fall.

The Master hits Blu-ray on February 26th.
