Watch: 70-Minute Talk With Jake Gyllenhaal, Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton, Marion Cotillard & More

Written by on November 17, 2014

Awards season means there are often unexpected gatherings of talent to discuss their latest works, and such is certainly the case with a recent talk. While at AFI Fest last week the eclectic mix of Kristen Stewart (Still Alice, Camp X-Ray), Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Enemy), J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year), Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), Marion Cotillard (The Immigrant, Two Days, One Night), Bill Hader (The Skeleton Twins) and Michelle Monaghan (Fort Bliss) all gathered for a 70-minute talk.

Under the banner of a conversation about independent filmmaking, a good deal of the discussion talks about the state of the industry and how it compares and contrasts with work in the Hollywood studio system. Chazelle, Chandor, and Stewart also talk about their experiences at Sundance, while Swinton discusses her time working with Derek Jarman, Gyllenhaal on his recent streak of indies, Cotillard on working with the Dardennes and James Gray, making short films to get financing for features, and much more. Check out the full conversation below.
