The wealth of year-end roundtables continues today with an excellent conversation featuring some of the top supporting actresses of 2014. Laura Dern (Wild), Patricia Arquette (Boyhood), Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer) and Emma Stone (Birdman) all gathered for LA Times‘ fascinating 50-minute talk discussing not only their recent roles, but how their lives and the industry intersect as well, and what they though of each other’s work.

In one section, Swinton — whose character in Snowpiercer was originally (and still is) written for a man — discusses the success of the film, saying, “We were very, very fortunate that that worked out so well. Because for a long time there was a whole discussion of Bong Joon-ho’s film not being seen by English-speaking audiences and thank goodness, we have seen it. The very fact that that’s done as well as it has is also incredibly encouraging because it means, yes, that’s what people do want to see. They want to see something that complex and that original and that unusual and weird.” Also touching on social media, pressure on set, developing long-term projects, and more, check out the full talk below.
