Since Warner Bros. delayed his next film by almost a year, the Sylvester Stallone-led actioner Bullet to the Head, it looks like director Walter Hill has nothing better to do but remake a classic. Deadline is reporting that the director has teamed with The Aldrich Company to write and helm an update to Robert Aldrich‘s 1962 drama What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?.

Starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford as actresses and sisters, the former a child star and the latter a retired major Hollywood icon, the original followed the two living in a house and some villainous, creepy things start happening in their relationship. Just look at the above photo or below scene for evidence. While it doesn’t seem to be the ripest property for a reboot, Hill has some reasoning of his own and one can read his quote below as we wait for more information on this project.

“The two equal leads demand great performers — that is a given. The intensity of the Gothic storyline makes a reconfiguration of the drama still a potentially searing experience. The idea is to make a modern film without modernizing the period. It needs to resonate the golden age of Hollywood.”
