After strong reviews coming out of the Venice premiere for Tomas Alfredson‘s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, we are eager to get our hands on any new media for what looks to be one of the best films of the year. With a UK release right around the corner, Awards Daily has dug up a featurette for the film, mostly highlighting the cool, anti-Bond nature of Gary Oldman‘s character. He is the centerpiece here and it would be wonderful if he finally got some major award recognition. Check it out below.

Based on John le Carré‘s novel, the cast also includes Mark Strong, Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Hurt, Toby Jones, David Dencik, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Stephen Graham, Kathy Burke, and Ciarán Hinds.

Synopsis:

Set in the 1970s, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy finds George Smiley, a recently retired MI6 agent, doing his best to adjust to a life outside the secret service. However, when a disgraced agent reappears with information concerning a mole at the heart of the Circus, Smiley is drawn back in to the murky field of espionage. Tasked with investigating which of his trusted former colleagues has chosen to betray him and their country, Smiley narrows his search to four suspects – all experienced, urbane, successful agents – but past histories, rivalries and friendships make it far from easy to pinpoint the man who is eating away at the heart of the British establishment.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy hits theaters December 9th, 2011.
