Taissa Farmiga Enters ‘Bling Ring’ and Boards ‘Jamesy Boy’; Addison Timlin Among ‘Stand Up Guys’

Written by on March 1, 2012

Making the jump from TV (American Horror Story) to film in a strong fashion is Taissa Farmiga, who, according to Variety, will take some of first feature roles with Sofia Coppola‘s Bling Ring and the indie drama Jamesy Boy. The former of those two had its big casting break just some 24 hours ago, when Emma Watson was signed to play the ringmaster of a gang who stole jewelry from various L.A.-based celebrities; Farmiga will appear as a member of this group.

Jamesy Boy is smaller scale and (likely) harder-hitting, being the tale of a young boy, James (Spencer Lofranco), “who goes from suburban street gang to a maximum-security prison, where he’s mentored by a convicted murderer (Ving Rhames).” Farmiga is joining a cast also comprised of James Woods and Mary Louise-Parker, in which she has the part of Lofranco‘s love interest. Trevor White has co-written and will direct Jamesy Boy, which is slated to begin production on March 4th.

Further down the line of young actresses (that sounded far more inappropriate than intended), another Variety story reports that Addison Timlin (Odd Thomas) is in talks for Stand Up Guys. And, with this, she’s embedding herself in quite the lineup: Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin, that is, all of whom starring in the action comedy from writer-director Fisher Stevens.

As was reported exactly one month ago, Guys centers on “two aging criminals, one of whom has been hired to kill his friend, [who] decide to enjoy one last night of debauchery in which they hit up a brothel, steal some cars and evade police but also face the choices they made in their lives.” Timlin would figure in as the granddaughter of Walken‘s character; anything past that hasn’t been made public. We should know a little more by the time it gets shooting this April.

Are you familiar with either actress’ work? Could either project prove successful for them?
