Knowing how secret J.J. Abrams is with his movies, I wouldn’t have counted on getting any pre-release featurettes for Star Trek Into Darkness — what’s more, getting one three-and-a-half months in advance. There isn’t a great deal of exclusive material to be mined from the video, itself only 83 seconds long, but I could spot a couple of nice and shiny new shots.
Weighing it down, slightly, is the typical EPK fluff from the director and a few stars — Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana — which don’t tell, but promise that this film will be really good. Now, hey, I like all these folks, and I’d be pleased to see them proven right; this isn’t a place where truth goes to thrive, however. Nevertheless, if you only want the extra footage, you can get that extra footage for no charge whatsoever. (Though any tips are welcome.)
The featurette can be seen below:
Star Trek Into Darkness will open on May 17th.
