Russell Brand Is WB’s ‘Cupid’

Written by on August 1, 2012

They say you should never judge a book by its cover — or, in this instance, a film by its press release — but, man, this one’s off to a rough start. Variety have learned that Russell Brand will lead and produce Cupid, a comedic spin on the classic mythical (mythical, right?) love bug that’s been hatched by Prom director Joe Nussbaum. Need I say more?

Yeah, probably. The basic logline follows Cupid — this time, the cynical Cupid — and his quest to “create an ideal romance.” The odds he falls in love with one of his clients, if not the very one meant for said ideal romance, is exponentially low. I don’t want to make the easy and lazy joke about my own expectations matching those very odds, but, here we are.

Cupid? Anything happening on your front?
