After directing light comedic fare such as Wedding Crashers and The Change-Up, director David Dobkin will be heading down a much different path with next fall’s The Judge. Led by Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, Warner Bros. has now released the first still from the drama, which can be seen above.
Also starring Leighton Meester, Vera Farmiga and Billy Bob Thornton, the film follows Hank Palmer (Downey Jr.), who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town’s judge (Duvall), is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before. With The King’s Speech writer David Seidler having a hand in the screenplay, perhaps this one could surprise next fall, but we’ll have to wait and see when The Judge opens on October 10, 2014.
