Ric Roman Waugh Signs For ‘Expiration,’ Plus First Image From His Dwayne Johnson Actioner ‘Snitch’

Written by on November 5, 2012

A smaller name though he may be, Ric Roman Waugh is making his way up the ladder. The helmer’s just finished his biggest film yet — Snitch, starring Dwayne Johnson and Susan Sarandon — which, too, is coming in only three months; to follow that, a big-budget thriller is being lined up.

Variety report that, for Emmett/Furla Films, Waugh is directing a $50 million behind Expiration, itself a spy thriller written by Broken City scribe Brian Tucker. According to the outlet, his screenplay centers on “an ex-CIA operative-turned-assassin who fails to complete his final assignment after being poisoned,” leaving our protagonist with only 20 hours before he, well, expires. Thus, revenge has suddenly become a much more urgent matter than per usual.

That’s nothing we’ve yet to see in the medium, but it’s all about what you’re going to do with the specifics — and we don’t know the specifics. For Waugh to have earned some big people’s trust with each passing film — as well as Tucker to have a promising-looking feature on his hands — does count for something in one way or the other, though.

Mark Gordon (Source Code) will produce with Film 360.

While we’re at it, here’s a new image of Johnson in Snitch:

This early out, what do you make of Expiration?
