INTERSTELLAR

We imagine if you’re reading, you’ve seen Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar, so we’ll proceed with spoilers for the last half of the film. In the space adventure, Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), Brand (Anne Hathaway), and Romilly (David Gyasi), searching for a habitable planet, settle on one occupied by Dr. Mann (Matt Damon). The icy terrain turns out to be inhospitable to humankind, but the trio were tricked after Mann’s fake data reflected otherwise, and a Sunshine-esque battle ensues.

To help open up the secretive character’s backstory, Nolan has scripted a prequel comic, illustrated by Sean Gordon Murphy and titled Absolute Zero. The seven-page comic reveals Mann on his Lazarus mission alongside his robot KIPP (a nod to Kip Thorne, who developed the film) as he begins to fake the data in hopes of human contact and reveals his evil side. Check out the pages below or in high-resolution at Wired.
