According to Variety, Rachel McAdams is currently in negotiations to star opposite Rachel Weisz in the Sebastián Lelio-helmed drama Disobedience. The picture follows a young woman who returns to her Orthodox Jewish home following the death of her estranged father. She then causes a stir within the community when she rekindles a love affair with a childhood friend, who is now married to the recently bereaved woman’s cousin.
Adapted from Naomi Alderman’s novel of the same name by Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the drama will be co-produced by Weisz with Film 4, Element Films, and Braven Films.
Disobedience is scheduled to enter production in early 2017.
