After delivering one of last year’s most impressive animations with ParaNorman, co-director Sam Fell is taking a break from the form that launched his career and heading into live-action territory. In an intriguing shift, a press release confirms that he will direct an action comedy starring none other than Jackie Chan.

Titled Skiptrace and coming from an original idea by Chan, X-Men: Days of Future Past star Bingbing Fan is also part of the story which follows a Hong Kong detective (Chan) who is tasked with tracking down a mouthy American gambler on the run from his creditors. The men form an unlikely partnership and attempt to take down Hong Kong’s most notorious criminal, while embarking on a wild journey through some of China’s most scenic and exotic locales.

Scripted by Jay Longino, Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, the film will be at the Cannes marketplace.
