Paramount has re-optioned their right to adapt Max Brooks‘ novel World War Z says Collider. This is a great sign in the projects future as it seemed to be at a halt for some time. Marc Forster is still attached to direct, for better or worse. However, screenwriters have changed arguably for the better. Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play) will be replacing J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling) to pen the adaptation. Brooks is still heavily involved with the project.

The novel consists of “transcripts” of interviews of people by a U.N. Post War commission. The interviews are that of people from all over the world. They discuss their survival, triumphs and stumbles throughout the war against deteriorating humans. The film is to be at an ‘epic’ scale, not shying away from the global theme. Intense concept art was leaked online a while back (shown above) and it looked like it could change the pace of zombie movies, akin to 28 Days Later.

Do you think Marc Forster is an appropriate choice as director?
