Today we have quite an eclectic mix of new posters for films on each end of the spectrum, both the smallest of independent features and some of Hollywood’s largest blockbusters. First up, we’ll start with the film that not only has the best-looking one-sheet, but one we’re easily anticipating the most. Coming from Indiewire, one can see the poster for the next project from the filmmaker that gave us the stellar Sweetgrass, Lucien Castaing-Taylor. Teaming with Verena Paravel, Leviathan explores the North Atlantic fishing industry and will hit theaters on March 1st. Check out the poster below.
We’ve also got a colorful new one-sheet for the SXSW hit Somebody Up There Likes Me, directed by Bob Byington. We got a fun promo video for the indie film last year and now the poster puts our actions, including Nick Offerman Keith Poulson and Jess Weixler in cartoon form. At SXSW we liked the film, saying, “Byington is fully in control and has crafted the most detached comedy of the year thus far. In some ways he is able to achieve a spot-on truth.” Check out our full review here and see the poster below via Cinema Blend for the film arriving in mid-March on VOD and in theaters.
Warner Bros. has also delivered what looks to be the final one-sheet of their magician comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which teams together Steve Carell, Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi. Set for a SXSW premiere before its March 15th theatrical release, the trailer was solid, so let’s hope the final film is a spring surprise. Lastly, as Hollywood prepares for this Sunday’s Super Bowl, we’ve got a new teaser and poster for Gore Verbinksi‘s redo of Lone Ranger. Seemingly taken from an official production still, the poster features our two stars, Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, as the world seemingly explodes around them. Check it out below, along with a short teaser ahead of Sunday’s ad.
