‘Men in Black III’ Teaser Posters and Viral Site Emerge

Written by on November 28, 2011

If there’s any desire on my part to see Men in Black III, it’s one rooted exclusively and directly in curiosity. That’s because the production, by virtually every stretch, sounds like a total disaster, where David Koepp being brought in to work on the script halfway through shooting isn’t your nadir. (Neither is Barry Sonnenfeld being behind the camera, amazingly enough.)

In spite of the fact that Sony has already spent far too much money on the third installment in the long-dormant franchise, marketing has to kick off soon — the release is less than six months away, and we haven’t seen an official item so far. But it’s now commenced with two teaser posters, one from Collider, the other from FirstShowing. If anything, they bring to mind some posters for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, only these are, to put it simply, not as good. To be fair, however, I d0 prefer that the studio reintroduce Tommy Lee Jones‘ Agent K and Will Smith‘s Agent J in a slightly left-of-center fashion.

Also coming out of all this is a new viral site — TheMenInBlackSuitsAreReal.com — but that’s only a standard Facebook page. Lame. They’re obviously trying to set up some interactive campaign at the moment, but it hasn’t started off quite right. I don’t necessarily expect it to end differently.

Take a look at them below. Update: Columbia sent over the official ones, click for hi-res.

Also starring Josh Brolin, Alice Eve, Rip Torn, Emma Thompson, and Michael Stuhlbarg, Men in Black III will open on May 25th, 2012.

Do these posters start to get you excited for Men in Black III? Is there any anticipation on your part for the film?
