In a world where Ain’t Them Bodies Saints director David Lowery can reboot Pete’s Dragon, we suppose we shouldn’t be surprised when another Sundance darling looks to also revitalize a family-friendly property. Such is the case when it comes to a new version of Little House on the Prairie.

Once set to come from David Gordon Green, THR now reports that Sean Durkin, the director behind the incredible Martha Marcy May Marlene and the mini-series Southcliffe, will direct the adaptation for Sony. Produced by Scott Rudin, the script comes from Shame‘s Abi Morgan and while it’s not known what this new take entails, the original show followed a pioneer family on the midwest frontier in the 1880’s.

Under different creative talent, we can’t say we’d be interested, but Durkin has adeptly proven he can take on “family” dramas with his debut, so count us deeply intrigued. As we await for more details, one can see what it probably won’t look like below.

What do you think of this writer and director taking on the adaptation?
