For a composer whose work was so beautifully and inextricably tied with the images in A Single Man, one would think we might have seen more of Abel Korzeniowski since the release of Tom Ford‘s debut in 2009. Aside from a few films and his work on Penny Dreadful, we actually haven’t heard much from the artist this decade. Thankfully he’s now reteamed with Ford for Nocturnal Animals and the full score is available to stream ahead of the film’s release next week.

Nocturnal Animals is a slightly larger score in terms of orchestration,” the composer tells Where to Watch. “We recorded in London with their session players, and the orchestral forces were stronger, but there’s some electronic elements. But, it’s not a long score because this movie didn’t really call for wall-to-wall music. It’s only in crucial places, but when it comes in you can really hear it and you’re aware of it. It’s a really carefully balanced and chosen amount, contrasting with the gritty, raw character in the second part of the film, which is almost without music.”

Check out the full score below, along with a discussion with Korzeniowski.

Nocturnal Animals opens in limited release on November 18th and will expand wide in early December.
