Kit Harington Boards ‘The Seventh Son,’ Starring Jeff Bridges

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are good at reimbursement. Sure, they went and (possibly) killed off Kit Harington‘s first shot at a mainstream, lead role — Arthur & Lancelot, I mean — but the guy’s just gone and landed another job with them. As Variety reports, the Game of Thrones star has signed for The Seventh Son, a supernatural actioner directed by Mongol‘s Sergey Bodrov, led by Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, and Alicia Vikander.

Variety doesn’t inform us who Harington might play — I’d guess it’s a small role, based on the later-than-usual casting — so I’ll just remind you what the thing is about. Thanks to Amazon, you can read a description of Joseph Delaney‘s book below:

“When 12-year-old Thomas, seventh son of a seventh son, is apprenticed to the local Spook, whose job is to fight evil spirits and witches, he expects a life of danger. However, the boy doesn’t realize just how soon he’ll face a powerful enemy alone, as Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away. Thomas is forced to use his wits, and the help of his enigmatic new friend, Alice, to fight the evil witch. And defeating her is only the start of the boy’s problems.”

Going back to Harington: I’ve been wholly impressed by his work on Game of Thrones, where he’s been doing a great job with one of the most complicated, demanding parts out of what’s, on its own, an impressive assemblage of characters. If he can bring even a little bit of that gravitas to The Seventh Son, this movie just got a little boost.

Have you been impressed by Harington’s work in the past? What do you make of his Seventh Son casting?
