It seems like 47 Ronin will never hit theaters. The samurai action film has suffered its share of production problems, with the most recent blow being Universal replacing first-time feature director Carl Rinsch with Donna Langley for the final edits. Due to the multitude of troubles, the project received not one, but two re-scheduled dates, with the studio finally settling on another try at a Christmas release. But things are looking up for stars Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ko Shibasaki, and the rest of the gang, as the web delivered designs from the film’s 2012 marketing campaign. It’s no teaser trailer, but at least this is something.

47 Ronin is based on the true story of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenge the death of their master in 18th century Japan. The film is supposed to release on Christmas Day — hopefully, the date will stick this time.

Do you think a holiday release is a good fit for 47 Ronin?
