MIDNIGHT SPECIAL

After crafting one of the most overlooked films of the year thus far, Krisha, writer-director Trey Edwards Shults is sticking with A24 for his next feature. Deadline reports that he’s found a star for his upcoming thriller It Comes at Night as Joel Edgerton will play the father “will stop at nothing to protect his wife and son from a malevolent, mysterious presence terrorizing them right outside their doorstep.” Although no shooting start has been revealed yet, hopefully we’ll see it by 2017. Meanwhile, Edgerton can next be seen in the impressive Loving (our review), his second Jeff Nichols feature of the year.

winsletThe guys behind Workaholics have been seen in a number of films the last few years, but they are about to get one to call their own. THR reports that Adam Devine, Anders Holm, Blake Anderson and Kyle Newacheck are teaming with Seth Rogen and Scott Rudin for a Netflix film titled Game Over, Man!. Coming from Bill Paxton‘s famous line in Aliens, the only thing known about the film is that it will be akin to “Die Hard in a hotel.” It’ll star the main trio with Newacheck directing as usual, based on Holm’s script.

In other news, Idris Elba has found a co-star for The Mountain Between Us, adapted from Charles Martin’s novel following a doctor and writer who must survive after their plane crashes in the wilderness. THR reports that Kate Winslet is now in talks to star in the project, playing the writer who is engaged. With direction from Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now), production is expected to start this December in British Columbia.

Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
