Jamie Blackley Gets Violent for ‘300: Battle of Artemisia’

Written by on February 16, 2012

It would seem that years of inactivity gives way to an economical assemblage, since Deadline has brought us the latest casting news on Noam Murro‘s 300 spin-off (it’s easier to just call it that for now). The latest actor to hop on is Jamie Blackley (London Boulevard), who’s secured the film’s “co-lead.” In a very 300-esque character description, said co-lead will be “Calisto, a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16 year old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers.”

Should the rumors surrounding Eva Green‘s involvement as the titular Persian leader prove true, three major parts have already been staked out for the picture — Sullivan Stapleton last joined, in the role of Greek politician Themistocles — conceivably only leaving Xerxes to be found. (Rodrigo Santoro‘s sitting by his phone at this very moment with bated breath.) I, like most, don’t have any grip on Blackley‘s talents (or, God forbid, lack thereof) as a thespian, but let’s be honest: most people aren’t seeing another 300 movie for the performances. I’m not entirely sure what we’d be seeing this for, actually.

Have you seen Blackley in anything? Did he leave some sort of impression?
