With cinematographer Roger Deakins filling his schedule with new films from Denis Villeneuve and the Coens, it means there’s no time for him to reteam with Sam Mendes for their Skyfall follow-up. As Bond 24 recently set an early December start date, many have wondered who would fill the shoes of the great director of photographer and, well, it’s about the best choice one could imagine.
Kris Tapley is reporting that Hoyte Van Hoytema, coming off Her and Interstellar, will be shooting the project, and the news gets better. Although unconfirmed, it’s been said that Hoytema wants to continue shooting on film after doing so with Christopher Nolan, so hopefully that pans out. Aside from perhaps Emmanuel Lubezki and the aforementioned Deakins, Hoytema is one of the few cinematographers whose name alone will get us intrigued in a project, ever since his stunning work on Let the Right One In.
