As production continues on Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice, the director is still expanding his ensemble left and right. Today the fan site Cigs & Red Vines bring us the news of a few minor additions to the cast, which already includes Joaquin PhoenixReese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, Katherine Waterston, Sean Penn, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Maya Rudolph and Kevin O’Connor.

They let us know that Sasha Pieterse (X-Men First Class, Good Luck Chuck) has joined the project in an unknown role, as well as Yvette Yates (I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell) and Hong Chau (Treme) who will play Luz and Jade, respectively. Lastly, Jeannie Berlin (Margaret) has been added in the role of Aunt Reet. We don’t expect this’ll be the last additions, so check back as more come in.

In other casting news,  Tim Burton is gathering his cast for big eyes Big Eyes, the project which will see Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams leading. Having recently added Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Vamps), THR reports that Jason Schwartzman will now be joining the film, scripted by Ed Wood’Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. The Moonrise Kingdom star will take the role of a San Francisco art gallery owner in the story that follows Walter Keane and his wife, Margaret, who attained national attention for a series of paintings in the ’50s and ’60s, but who were later the subject of bad attention when the husband went on a national stage and claimed his involvement in art that beared none of his work.

One of our favorite up-and-coming actors also booked a new role, as Deadline reports Argo and Killing Them Softly‘s Scoot McNairy has signed to star with Jude Law in Kevin Macdonald‘s Black Sea, a submarine adventure that follows a crew searching for sunken treasure. The Monsters star will play an American “who convinces the captain to undertake a mission, even though the skipper has been double crossed before and knows it could be a set-up.”

THR also reports that Alison Brie, Justin Chatwin and Colin Hanks have saddled up for the rom-com No Stranger Than Love, directed by newcomer Nick Wernham. The Community actress is in the lead role as an “attractive and kind high school art teacher in the small village of Spot Valley, filled with men secretly or openly in love with her, while Hanks performs the role of a married high school football coach.”

Lastly, Brad Anderson is coming off his biggest hit yet, the Halle Berry-led thriller The Call, so his next film is coming together rather quickly. Kicking off production next week, Eliza Graves has already secured Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley and Michael Caine to star. Now Deadline reports that the talented duo of David Thewlis and Brendan Gleeson has been added in the adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe‘s story, The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether. Scripted by Joe Gangemi, Sturgess plays a young doctor smitten with one of the patients at a mental hospital he’s joined as faculty.

Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
