The film world will never see a dearth of relationship comedies, and a new deal at Universal will add yet another selection to the ever-growing category.

The studio acquired an untitled pitch from up-and-coming screenwriter Josh Friedlander, whose script Pictures Of You recently landed on the Black List. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (the Harold and Kumar series, American Reunion) will produce and, potentially, direct the project, which is being described as a “high-concept relationship comedy with a strong action component,’ according to Deadline. This isn’t the first time the two showed an interest in Friedlander – they’re also set to helm his screenplay One Night Stand.

The pitch adds to an already-full schedule, as Hurwitz and Schlossberg are also attached to Cherries, a raunchy comedy based off a spec by writers Jim and Brian Kehoe. With that in mind, I’m sure we can expect to see a lot of the directing duo in theaters over the next year or two.

Are you a fan of Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg? Are you looking forward to any of their upcoming projects?
