Released in 2009, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was one of the most welcome surprises in animation. With a sharp script and entertaining style, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller proved their talents in the feature film game, only to go on and do so again with 21 Jump Street. As with the vast majority of successful animation offerings, a sequel its on our way, but unfortunately without our directors returning. However, the funny duo of John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Horrible Bosses) are providing the script this time around, for new directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, and this morning the first look has arrived.
Coming from USA Today, they reveal a bright and vibrant world, one full of fruit-based creatures, among other creations. It’s also revealed that this film “picks up very closely after first film ended,” as we follow Bill Hader‘s character forming a relationship with his father (James Caan), but it’s soon uncovered that Flint’s FLDSMDFR invention is producing wild animal hybrids, who are all tucked away on an island, “kind of like Jurassic Park.” Including tacodiles, fruit cockatiels, cucumbirds, bananostriches, flamangoes, wildabeets and watermelophants, check out the images below for the film also starring Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, Will Forte, Neil Patrick Harris and Terry Crews.
Synopsis:
In the wake of the disastrous food storm at the end of the first movie, Flint Lockwood and friends are forced to leave their town of Swallow Falls. But when it is discovered that sentient food beasts have overrun the island, they are asked to return to save the world…again.
