With the complete feature film line-up for next month’s Tribeca Film Festival getting revealed last week, we’ve got a batch of first looks from upcoming premieres this morning. First up, writer/director Neil LaBute is debuting his latest drama, Some Velvet Morning. The filmmaker has a varied run in his last three films, which includes remakes of Death at a Funeral and The Wicker Man, as well as Lakeview Terrace. This time he’s directing Star Trek Into Darkness Alice Eve and the prolific Stanley Tucci in a seemingly one-location drama. Check out the images above and below, along with a synopsis.

Fred arrives at Velvet’s doorstep, suitcases in tow. He tells her that he has finally left his wife to be with her, news to Velvet since she has not seen him in years and is now friends with Fred’s recently married son. As Fred’s hopes crash to earth during a conversation brimming with passion, remorse, humor and anger, the twisted heart of a fascinating relationship is revealed. Stanley Tucci and Alice Eve star in this spirited living room drama.

We’ve also got the first look at the feature directorial debut from Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais, who one may remember from The Day After Tomorrow. He’s has helmed the dark comedy Whitewash, which features Thomas Haden Church (last seen in John Carter and Killer Joe) as a man attempting to survive a harsh winter. Check out the images above and below, as well as the synopsis.

The brutality of winter and the power of the mind are aptly portrayed in this dark comedy set in Northern Quebec. Bruce (Thomas Haden Church) is merely trying to survive a harsh winter when he meets Jean. Conflict leads to an accidental death, and Bruce finds himself in a complicated and unexpected place. Grappling with his guilt, Bruce creates a prison from which he cannot escape. Haden Church perfectly utilizes his comic talent in this wry, well-crafted film.

Tribeca Film Festival 2013 kicks off on April 17th.
