Update: Watch the first trailer here.

Following his success with last year’s Silver Linings Playbook, David O. Russell took a very, very short vacation before he went back to work on his next project, one that boasts perhaps an even finer ensemble. Re-teaming with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro, American Hustle also adds Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams, with our first official images arriving today.

Coming from USA Today, one can see Bale above as Irving Rosenfeld, a con-man from the Bronx who gets entangled with FBI agent Richie DiMaso, played by Bradley Cooper, (also seen above). A fictional take on the 1970s FBI sting operation, Abscam, the film also follows Rosenfeld’s significant other and assistant Sydney (seen below, played by Amy Adams) as they encounter “a web of New Jersey power brokers and the Mafia.” With the film still being edited, hopefully we can expect a trailer soon and in the meantime, check out the new images for what is sure to be a major player this fall.

American Hustle opens on December 13th in limited release and goes wide on December 25th.
