Taking place in a single day, the upcoming indie ensemble comedy Mutual Friends tracks the intertwining stories of a set of New Yorkers that converge on a surprise party. As one might expect, the past bubbles up and battles are to be had. Following its premiere last year at Seattle International Film Festival, it’s now gearing up for a release next month and we have an exclusive clip.

Coming from co-writer/director Matthew Watts, he’s assembled a bevy of up-and-coming talent, including Caitlin Fitzgerald (Masters of Sex), Peter Scanavino (Happythankyoumoreplease), Cheyenne Jackson (Behind the Candelabra), Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield), Christina Cole (Jupiter Ascending), Ross Partridge (Baghead), Michael Chernus (Captain Phillips), and Jennifer Lafleur (Jeff, Who Lives at Home). This new clip, along with the trailer, highlight an energetic, fun rom-com, and one can see both below.

MUTUAL FRIENDS showcases the interlocking tales of ten New Yorkers who collide at a surprise party that goes spectacularly wrong. Liv (Fitzgerald) must host the perfect evening to assure the guests and herself that she is truly in love with her too-good-to-be-true fiancé, Christoph (Jackson), while avoiding the realization that she slept with her best friend Nate (Scanavino) on the night of her engagement. With each story composed from a different viewpoint, the film takes place over the course of one day wrapped around a sticky love triangle that examines the reality of following your head versus following your heart.
