Before Listen Up Philip hits theaters this fall — and following a premiere at Sundance, where it was one of our favorite titles this year — writer-director Alex Ross Perry will reunite with Elisabeth Moss for the Joe Swanberg-produced Queen of Earth. Breaking from the dark-comedy stylings he’d fashioned in Impolex, The Color Wheel, and the most-recent endeavor, this fourth feature is a psychological thriller reportedly in the key of Rosemary’s Baby and Repulsion. In this first announcement, we’re told it concerns a pair of women whose beach-house excursion, while instigated to escape various anxieties, sees them “realize how disconnected from each other they have become, allowing their suspicions to bleed into reality.” Polanski-esque, sure, though it also sounds an awful lot like Persona. The strength of that connection — if such a connection even exists, at least — remains to be seen, but Queen of Earth nevertheless holds great promise. Listen Up Philip, meanwhile, will enter limited release on October 17.

Craig+Roberts+EE+British+Academy+Film+Awards+9YSWYtEJG3PlScreen Daily have another directing update, the outlet telling us Craig Roberts (Neighbors, Submarine) is to make his behind-the-camera feature debut on Just Jim, which he’s also written and expected to headline. His screenplay is, it seems, a two-hander, concerning an eponymous “teenage loser” who finds themselves “turned around by the appearance of an enigmatic, handsome neighbor” — likely where co-star Emile Hirsch comes in.

Roberts will begin shooting Just Jim this week, backed by a cast that also includes Aneirin Hughes, Nia Roberts, Richard Harrington, and Matthew Aubrey, as well as newcomers Ryan Owen and Charlotte Randall. Sony Pictures Classics have UK rights.

Screen-Shot-2014-02-10-at-9.56.22-AMConcerning what, I can only assume, is a very different project from either noted above, Variety have word that Jamie Foxx will lead a biopic of Mike Tyson. Scripted by Terence Winter (The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire), it’s apparently employing Benjamin Button-style technology to convincingly chart the boxer’s legendary and incendiary career — though it doesn’t even have a studio, so they’ll probably want to get a package secured before making such grand plans.

That’s the most on it for the time being, but, for an early preview of Foxx‘s performance, I advise you watch a couple of videos.

Two other casting notices, both from Variety: Domhnall Gleeson (Frank, About Time) will go from Star Wars: Episode VII to Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s The Revenant, joining Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Will Poulter in an unspecified role. The picture will arrive on December 25, 2015.

???????????????????????????Dakota Johnson has found material more exciting than Fifty Shades of Grey, having joined the cast of A Bigger Splash, the next picture from I Am Love helmer Luca Guadagnino. Possibly (though not definitely) replacing Margot Robbie, who is not mentioned in a follow-up to months-old news, she’s signed for “a sexy thriller” set on the island of Pantelleria; more specifically, it remakes a 1969 French picture, La Piscine, following “an uneasy triangle that forms between a couple and a younger woman during the couple’s vacation, leading to a sinister end.” [Variety]

Tilda Swinton (reuniting with Guadagnino), Ralph Fiennes, and Matthias Schoenaerts have been connected to the project. Shooting commences next month.

Which of these projects are you anticipating the most? Do you like the first inkling of casting?
