Now that he has the tacky headphone market locked up, Dr. Dre is once again setting his sights on Hollywood. The rap music mogul has appeared in films such as Set It Off and Training Day but will be now expand to the producing game with his newly launched Crucial Films and Variety has news on their latest feature.

The film is a horror/thriller titled Thaw and comes from the mind of Dre’s producing partner Daniel Schinder. Following an “ancient evil that emerges from the rapidly melting ice in the Yukon,” they’ve signed Vik Weet to write the film. Weet is also attached to Renny Harlin‘s thriller about the 1959 Dyatlov Pass incident, where a group of hikers were found dead in the mountains.

The idea of evil coming out of melting ice doesn’t exactly send a tingle down my spine, but I’ll be interested to see if Dre can come up with something worthwhile to match his accomplished  music career. The man is also behind the developing NWA biopic, so we’ll see which project takes off first. For now, get ready to become scared of those evil ice cubes just sitting there in your fridge.

What do you think about Dr. Dre’s horror film project?
