“I just saw the assembly and I can say that, without a doubt, Chris Pratt is going to be the biggest movie star in the world within the next couple of years. There’s nobody like him around today who is able to be such a vulnerable, masculine, heroic, funny hero,” director James Gunn recently said regarding his Guardians of the Galaxy star. “It’s absolutely astounding to watch, and every day on set it was astounding to watch this guy learn how to be a movie star.”

While there’s certainly some bias going into the opinion, it’s easy to lay claim in Gunn’s prediction. The actor has risen from his days on The O.C. to a regular stint as one of TV’s best characters in Parks and Recreation, then took a 180-degree turn in films such as Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty. Next year he’ll be seen leading the aforementioned Marvel tentpole and now he’s entered discussions for one of 2015’s biggest blockbusters.

According to The Wrap, he’s in early talks to to lead Colin Trevorrow‘s Jurassic World, replacing Josh Brolin who reportedly left due to scheduling and salary qualms. If Pratt can figure out a way to make the shoot work with his schedule on NBC’s Thursday night show, he’d join Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins, while Life of Pi‘s Irrfan Khan circles an additional supporting role. As a major fan of the actor, let’s hope he can work out his schedule ahead of a shoot kicking off soon in Hawaii.

Jurassic World arrives on June 12th, 2015.

Do you think Pratt has what it takes to become one of Hollywood’s top stars? Would you like to see him join Jurassic World?
