While his upcoming film, Jack the Giant Slayer, hits theaters in mere weeks, it’s safe to say that audiences have already seemingly shifted their focus to what Bryan Singer will be doing next. The X- Men and X2 director has stepped in for Matthew Vaughn on the follow-up to X-Men: First Class and has been slowly assembling his cast. He’s not only bringing back  Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Rose Byrne and Jennifer Lawrence, but the film will also see the return of Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart, as well as Ellen Page, Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore.

We’ve now got another major update for X-Men: Days of Future Past, as Singer himself tweeted that Peter Dinklage will be taking a key, but undisclosed role. The actor has recently achieved new fandom in HBO’s Game of Thrones, but also shown his remarkable talents in The Station Agent. Even if we don’t know what superhuman abilities he will have, if any, Singer is certainly doing everything he can to get our interest piqued, casting wise.

With the film heavily involving time travel, Singer also confirmed another major bit hanging in the air to Cinema Blend. When asked about the technology being used he said, “I’ll probably use some of the motion-capture technology for certain things [in Days of Future Past]. And of course the 3D technology. I’ll be shooting native stereo on X-Men.” I wouldn’t count myself in the 3D camp, but we’ve seen skilled directors use it to great lengths, so let’s hope Singer is one of them.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will arrive on July 18th, 2014.

Who do you think Dinklage could play? Will you see it in 3D?
