Released late last summer, unfortunately Cinedigm didn’t have the resources to give Brie Larson an awards campaign for her role as social worker for troubled teens in Short Term 12 easily ranks with the best performances of last year. Thankfully, those in Hollywood have taken notice of the up-and-coming actress as she’s just signed for a high-profile comedy at Universal.

According to Variety, the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star is in talks to join Judd Apatow‘s Trainwreck, which will be led by Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. While Larson’s role isn’t known, Schumer’s script follows her as “a basket case who tries to rebuild her life, but still to be found are her boyfriend, a best friend / co-worker and a parent.”

Judging from that brief logline, we imagine Larson could take the best friend role, but we’ll have to see how it shakes out. Regardless, it’ll be nice to see her return to comedy after impressing in 21 Jump Street and we’ll see the results when Trainwreck arrives in July 24th, 2015.

Are you looking forward to seeing Larson in an Apatow-directed film?
